Recreation in Ruston, LA
As Spring is now upon us, everyone is looking for a reason to get out and do something active. Luckily, there are many different parks in Ruston to spend your days out of doors.
 
Ruston is working hard on expanding the amount of recreational activities available for the public. They are currently in the process of building the biggest improvement this town has seen. "Rock Island Greenway" is named after the railroad that used to run North and South through town (one of the largest parts of Ruston's founding). This will be the first recreational path of its kind in Ruston. The path will be shared to walkers, runners, dogs, rollerbladers, skateboarders, and cyclists and any thing else you could imagine, EXCEPT cars. It will be almost 6 miles across town connecting neighborhoods, businesses, educational institutions, and recreational amenities. The "Rock Island Greenway" will connect to the south side of Cook Park, another cool place in Ruston to get outside and get some exercise or picnic.
Surrounding Cook Park, there is a walking trail that has exercise machines every few yards so that walkers could choose to stop walking and do an exercise. Tons of kids come after school to play, and ... more
