On that date the federal government of the United States of America is scheduled to release the finding of their block chain endeavors. When that happens, block chain will be mainstreamed and the market will go hyper. 
It is essential to separate cryptocurrency (cc) from the underlying platform blockchain (bc).
It is projected that 2018 is to be the year of cc litigation because wrongfully imposed customer losses are where lawsuits are usually born. 
When a citizen has their bitcoin stolen, they stop caring so much about decentralization and autonomous and anonymous transactions.
That is why my focus must be on the underlying platform, blockchain (bc).
NASDAQ has already invested heavily and assisted the country of Estonia with their block chain implementation.
However, there is another player most of us have dealt with over the past 15 years with a history of gaming and influencing systems to be of benefit to their sector.. that player is, Bank of America (BofA).
Since 2014 Bank of America (BofA) has been filing block chain based patents.
In early 2017 Bank of America (BofA) filed three patents based on using distributed ledgers to validate the veracity of information and those who handle it. Two further applications, filed the same month, were based on a peer-to-peer payment system running on the blockchain.
