The Neighbourhood
Allendale is located in the Strathcona area of Edmonton.  It is bordered by 109 Street to the west and 104 Street to the east, 70 Avenue to the north, and 61 Avenue to the south.  The neighbourhood was farmed by the Allen family in the 19th century and became a part of Edmonton when Strathcona was amalgamated in 1921.  It features mature, tree lined streets.  There are commercial services along the east and west boundaries.  The community is near Whyte Avenue, the University of Alberta and Southgate Shopping Centre.
Allendale was mostly developed in the 1940s and 1950s.  There are a number of newly constructed infills as well.
The population of Allendale is approximately 3,000 and there are 1,200 residences.  Most homes are single family detached houses.  
 
Schools and Amenities
Allendale School is a combined elementary and junior high school that dates back to 1913.
