Thankful for The American River Parkway
Without a doubt, one of many blessing I enjoy, is living in close proximity to The American River Parkway. The Parkway begins a couple blocks from home.. This autumn in the Greater Sacramento Region has been one of the more pleasant in memory.  While we are without much needed rain and in the heart of drought, the temperatures have allowed for pleasant more outdoor time. It is my bicycle which often transports me into the Parkway’s natural realm.

The Salmon are making their annual migration up the American River to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery.

The river is quieter in November and December. The raucous activity of fisherman, so prevalent in October, is absent. The Salmon are protected in their migratory run, from November 1st thru December 31st. 

It is a perfect time, for a local resident to introduce her pooch to a first time water adventure.

The scenes below are at the Old Fair Oaks Bridge, near Sunrise Boulevard.  The bridge today is used for pedestrians and bikes only.  It connects the Community of Fair Oaks to GoldRiver/Rancho Cordova.
