Coming Right Along.......
On Saturday last, my Margie and I drove to Stamford Connecticut to meet and adopt DD, a thirteen year old girl who lost her home when one of her owners died and the other had to go into a assisted living situation where pets are not allowed. This broke my heart and I immediately applied to the rescue that had her. I lost my best boy Billy, in July and I was grieving as well. I was hoping to honor my Billy and help DD learn to move beyond her grief too. You never replace a beloved family member, but you can honor them by helping another who might not make it without you.
Progress is often slow but I can see improvement everyday. DD is learning about her new family and home, and the rest of my gang is starting to accept DD too. This morning I got my first hand lick from this sweetie and it was nice. She is learning to sit, and the others are not as afraid of her as they were when she arrived. It is a process but we are all coming right along.
