Thanksgiving is a time for families and friends to come together. With hurried lives and busy schedules throughout the year, holidays such as Thanksgiving provides the opportunity for togetherness and a day to spend together in a very intentional way. 
While Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has been long celebrated a secular holiday as well. In many cultures Thanksgiving is associated with the Pilgrims and Native Americans symbolizing and celebrating intercultural peace and the sanctity of home and family. Even though Thanksgiving has become secularized and commercialized, we should never forget that the day is rooted in the commitment of our forefathers and foremothers to maintain a thankful heart no matter how painful or challenging of the times preceding this beautiful day.
