Slate Belt Growth in Pennsylvania Spurs Need for Home Construction
The population of the Slate Belt in Northampton County, Pennsylvania is expected to increase by 40 percent over the next 20 years.  Ten municipalities in the Slate Belt have partnered together to enhance their growth.
The 10 municipalities are:
Bangor East Bangor Pen Argyl Roseto Portland Wind Gap Plainfield Township Washington Township Lower Mount Bethel Township Upper Mount Bethel Township Per Plan Slate Belt, which was published in late 2019, the Slate Belt's rapid growth is likely the result of proximity to the Lehigh Valley's overall growth.  As construction and jobs expands up the Route 33 corridor, there will be a need for additional housing.
