The rich, fertile soil around Summerville provides the lush background of magnolias, dogwoods, azaleas, and camellias for one of the most breathtaking cities in South Carolina. Known as Pineland Village after the Revolutionary War, the neighborhood became a retreat from the heat, insects and humidity of summer for Charleston’s elite.
