michigan: Myths vs. Facts About Selling Real Estate in a Buyer's Market - 01/25/08 03:24 AM
After 20 years of selling real estate, I have a considerable collection of "Myths vs. Facts."  In today's real estate market, it is essential to identify which is which.  For any of you who have been in real estate for more than a week, you've probably already encountered most of them.  Hope this helps!
Myth:  "Houses just aren´t selling."
Fact:    MOST houses aren't selling, it's true.  The good ones still are, however, and at prices that are at or very close to the asking price, provided the asking price is not a pipe dream to begin with.  The "good ones" are those … (2 comments)

The Story of "No! Next!"
One bright, Saturday morning a man walked into a New York City deli, took a number and waited patiently for his number to be called.  Some thirty minutes later, it was his turn to place his order and he said to … (1 comments)

I shared this with all of you this past fall but a few of my co-workers suggested I re-post it, now that the holidays ar over and we're all getting back to work.
We are, right? Getting back to work?  Snow?? Cold?  Yeah, so?  Did you see the new about intereste rates today?  There are buyers out there who are smart enough to go shopping for a home, even if it's cold.
Anyway, here goes:
In a tough market, get back to basics!

michigan: Hot off the AP Newswire -- FED Cuts Rates 3/4 point. - 01/22/08 07:38 AM
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Federal Reserve unexpectedly slashed a key interest rate -- the Fed Funds Rate --  by a bold three-fourths of a percentage point on Tuesday, responding to a global plunge in stock markets that heightened concerns about a recession. The Fed signaled that further rate cuts were likely.
The reduction in the federal funds rate from 4.25 percent down to 3.5 percent marked the biggest reduction in this target rate for overnight loans on records going back to 1990. It marked the first time that the Fed has changed rates between meetings since 2001, when the central bank was … (2 comments)

michigan: Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. - 12/12/07 06:05 AM
On September 21, 1897, it was buried on the editorial page, under articles about politics, railroads and a new bicycle design. A letter was sent to the editor of the New York Sun newspaper from an 8-year-old named Virginia O'Hanlon, the only child of a New York City Coroner's Assistant, questioning the existence of Santa Claus.  Francis Pharcellus Church, who wrote for the newspaper, replied to Virginia and his editorial became a piece of Christmas lore.  In keeping with his newspaper's policy, Mr. Church was not credited for writing the editorial until after his death in 1906.  Virginia lived to the … (3 comments)

michigan: Did you know (a little Christmas Trivia) - 12/11/07 05:47 AM
Did you know that Dr. Clement Clarke Moore, who wrote, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," which, today, we refer to as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," was the author of a Hebrew dictionary and for more than 20 years, would not acknowledge he was the author of the famous Christmas poem?  Moore was Bible scholar from a wealthy family in New York and taught at Columbia College. He lived in New York City on a big estate in Manhattan called Chelsea, which later it gave its name to the neighborhood.  The poem was written originally for his children but was first … (2 comments)

michigan: A Christmas Visit from Mary & Penny, Tooth Fairies - 12/07/07 03:31 AM
As some of you know, as my daughters were growing up, I wrote them poems from their own, individual tooth fairies.  While many people have suggested I get them published, I've never found a publisher who shared their enthusiasm.  Nevertheless, I have received many requests for the one I wrote one Christmas.  It is below.  I hope you enjoy it and forward it on to your friends and family.
With my heartfelt wishes to all of you for a joyful holiday season, here is "A Christmas Visit From Mary and Penny.

michigan: The Story of the Frog and the Scorpion - 12/02/07 04:36 AM
Once upon a time there lived a frog.  He was a happy little frog, for the most part.  One day, soon after a downpour, he hopped his way to the river.  The river was swollen from the rain and its current raced over rocks and trees.  Just as he was about to jump into the river to swim across, he heard a small voice whispering, "Hey, Mr. Frog, hey, over here."
He looked all around before saw the scorpion sitting close to his webbed foot.  "Mr. Frog, will you please give a ride across the river?"
The frog looked at the scorpion and … (6 comments)
