It is going to be a fun weekend ahead here on Whidbey Island, with lots of activities, including Christmas tree lighting, parades, shopping, concerts, crazy people racing kayaks through Deception Pass, and more. Come out and enjoy! Dec 2 & 3 - Big Brothers & Big Sisters Festival of Trees - Black Tie event including a silent auction on Friday night, and tree viewing on Saturday afternoon at the Elks Lodge. It was supposed to rain according to the weatherman, but instead we were greeted early this morning with sun streaming in the windows. It was a great start to Mother's Day. We went to Seabolt's to pick up lunch to take down to the waterfront for a picnic overlooking the harbor, then headed down to Greenbank for a pleasant walk around Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens and a fun Mother's Day Concert on the Lawn.
Due to the recent wet weather, many of the varieties of rhododendrons have not yet reached peak bloom. … (2 comments)

Is there anything to do on Whidbey Island? When you get tired of walking our miles of beaches; when you just can't face any more fishing, or crabbing, or clamming; when another hike in Deception Pass State Park is too much to bear; when you have lost count of all the Eagles you have seen during your run to the grocery; when you just can't face anymore alone time enjoying nature.... there are a lot of fun family events coming up in the next couple of months here on Whidbey Island to enjoy!
