Often when people think "staging" they think "to die for" gorgeous. Not true. A good stager will first and foremost address the concerns of the house. For example--if the bedroom is small-- show that it is large enough for a queen bed. Or, when there are multiple halls and staircases coming into a living room and traffic patterns seem to suggest that furniture placement is problematic, show a cozy sitting arrangement. Or, if the only dining area is in the kitchen use a large farm table to show that family holiday dinners are not a problem.

Tell me I'm wrong! It seems to me from conversations with Realtors that the main reason that more agents don't suggest home staging to their clients is they are afraid to offend them. How do you compliment a client's home and at the same time suggest staging? Aren't they opposites?
No. They don't have to be. I teach a class for agents on home staging and this is an issue I discuss on day one. I tell the agents to say something along these lines:
