winnetka: Why We Changed Firms

Since our move approximately two months ago, several Winnetka agents have asked us "why did we choose The Hudson Company?" Most of the agents in the North Shore market , who have changed offices in the last two years have moved to a different firm. That firm had just began to reach into the suburbs and was offering a fresh approach with very attractive marketing materials...along with an aggressive compensation package. They have been extremely successful in recruiting many agents. Today someone asked me how many homes are on the market in Winnetka. Being a stats junkie, (try not to snore) I usually have a pretty good idea of the number of single family homes for sale in Winnetka. Then she mentioned that it seem as though 20% of the existing single family homes are for sale. We talked about the large number of “For Sale” signs peppering every block, but knowing that typically, 5% of homes turn over in any community in a year, 20% seemed over the top.
