San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors just voted to create of a payroll tax exemption zone. The  tax exemption zone  envelopes the blighted mid-Market and Tenderloin areas.
The  city is redevelping all of Market st. as part of the Better MArket Street Project and wants to see a beautiful revamped boulevard stretching from the Embarcadero Ferry Buidling, past the new Transbay project up to mid market with this tax break to keep  startups that find success here, all the way up to the new Octavia projects in Hayes Valley.

Twitter, a San Francisco startup is looking to expand its workforce and save some money while doing it. San Francisco may lose Twitter to Brisbane. Twitter needs to grow its employee base and the payroll tax here in the city is 1.5%. Once a nickleodean, built in 1910, the Clay falls victim to the dark side of the internet. When I was a kid I remember Saturday afternoon movies would fill the movie house. That kindof communal movei going is all but lost except in a few theaters like the Clay. Now, we have our own personal movie theaters, convenient but not supportive of single screen theaters. Landmark, the theater operators, have been losing money and now its lease expired, making it a perfect time for an exit.
