Hocking Hills State Park Winter Hike 2010, attracted a Cast of Thousands...January 16, 2010....The 45th edition of the Hocking Hills Winter Hike, held annually on the third Saturday in January, attracted what's certain to have been one of the largest turnouts ever.  The parking lots were filled, and at times the line to enter the trail to Old Man's Cave stretched back almost to the Visitors Center.  But as you walked the trail and marveled at the natural winter artwork along the way, it was unusual to hear any discouraging words.  I'd comfortably estimate over 4,000, based on the fact … (1 comments)

These annual events are both newer and longtime favorites for members and their guests of the community of Hide-A-Way Hills (HAH), near southeast Ohio's famous Hocking Hills vacation destination region. A feature at this Saturday's Bremen German Festival will be Hide-A-Way Hills Lodge microbrewery beer.  Columbus Maenherchor will provide music, along with the Squeezebox Band.  Plenty of ethnic eats, along with a Franfurter Eating Contest, and cool kids' stuff, too!  Activities begin at 10am with the Walking Parade and last until 10pm....Saturday only!  You'll find Bremen just east of Lancaster, just south of Route 37, and the resort homes community of Hide-A-Way Hills just southwest of Bremen.  And it's all close to southeast Ohio's famous Hocking Hills vacation destination region....

This year's run through Hocking Hills State Park, centerpiece of southeast Ohio's famous vacation destination region, attracted a record-setting 757 participants to this growing annual event hosted by the Hocking Hills Tourism Association..  Runners came from 16 states, including Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia (and of course, Ohio).  Pre-registrants included runners between of all ages, from 7 to 81.

events: Another Successful Hocking Valley Community Hospital Auction - 07/26/09 04:32 AM

Including this year's proceeds, and since its birth in 1986, the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation has raised over one-million dollars from its annual Auction and Golf Tournament.  The funds have brought improvements in medical care facilities for residents of the Logan-Hocking Hills area that include last year's additions of an ultrasound machine and ventilator units for improved patient care.  2009's auction alone featured 360 items, and netted about $28,000.  Next year's event is scheduled for Friday July 16 and Saturday July 17, again at the beautiful Brass Ring Golf Club.

Located near southeast Ohio's famous Hocking Hills Region, the gated resort community of Hide-A-Way Hills features plenty of annual events, and probably the biggest gathering of the year is the Dam Jam.  This year saw what's considered to be the event's largest turnout ever, with as many as an estimated five-hundred members, family, and friends celebrating a summer evening beneath the Lake of the Four Seasons.  A hog roast serves as the main course, and members bring along a covered dish to share as well....so there's certainly no reason to go hungry.  This year, the Social Committee added some great extra attractions, including a moon bounce and face … (0 comments)

It was a simply glorious weekend for "Shooting the Hills"....southeast Ohio's famous Hocking Hills Region, that is, with about 200 photographers from six states hiking with their gear through the scenic trails, caves, hollows, meadows and other attractions that have drawn visitors from across the country for decades.  In this year's eighth Annual "Shoot the Hills" competition, The Friends of the Hocking Hills again awarded thousands of dollars in prizes to the winning shots in both Digital RAW/SLR and Point-and-Shoot divisions.  The prize money was generated from the over $16,000 in sponsorships from over 40 businesses and organizations.

It might be a bit nippy, but the cold will no doubt make for some incredible "special effects" from Mother Nature during this Saturday's Hocking Hills State Park Winter Hike. The 11th edition of this Hocking Hills Region spring event was quite the success, with photographers from many states dropping in for the weekend to compete for over $3,000 in cash and other prizes.  The competition continues to grow in national stature, and pre-registrations were double the number of 2007.  And this year, "Shoppe the Hills" was added to allow artists and other sponsors to show and sell their offerings in the Lodge at Hocking Hills State Park....word is that they all did a nice bit of business through the weekend of April 18-20.
