south florida: Insider's Guide to great Hotel Deals for Florida Residents - 06/11/08 03:13 PM
Did you know that as a Florida resident you can get incredible hotel deals this Summer? I felt like a kid in a candy store while reading Jane Wooldridge's article in The Miami Herald: Why go far? 20 fabulous sleeps in our backyard.
Between coordinating the kids' Summer Camps, planning our annual Summer trip to Bimini and working really odd schedules, a weekend getaway to one of our very seldom visited beaches with spa treatments and major pampering sounds perfect.

Jane tells us,

Because big hotels have hundreds of rooms to fill, they slash rates dramatically -- this year … (27 comments)

south florida: Bimini, Bahamas - another vacation for Miamians - 07/22/07 09:50 AM
Everyone knows Miami is a great vacation spot.  You have beaches, you have entertainment, you have great hotels and shopping, and you can't forget dining!  But the question here is, Where do Miamians go on vacation?  The first article to this series, Vacations for Miamians....and others, talks about 3-day cruises taking off from our own Port of Miami.
Now, I want to tell you about our boating vacation to The Islands of Bimini, Bahamas which are located just under 50 miles East of Miami.  This was our second time going and we crossed the Florida Straits with our dear friends The Rubios.  … (33 comments)

The annual Unity Day Celebration took place yesterday, March 3, 2007 in the Miami Shores Recreation Fields.  This year is was specially significant because it was the Village of Miami Shores' 75th year celebration!
The event was sponsored by the Miami Shores Mayor's Community Task Force and included an incredible fireworks display at 8:00 PM.

south florida: Reality Check - truth hurts - 02/24/07 08:41 PM
What happens when a good friend wants to sell their home but you know they will lose money if they sell now?  Just last week we were invited to do a listing presentation by friends and neighbors.  As soon as we pulled their tax information we knew they would loose money with this transaction.
We hoped there was a discrepancy in the tax roll with regards to the size of the house, we hoped they had not put a lot of money into it, we hoped we had made a mistake and could give them the information they wanted to hear.
Although … (24 comments)

south florida: My people are big on permits - 02/20/07 09:23 AM
This is a true story and I don't know whether to laugh or just shake my head back and forth in disbelief.  The intention of this story is not to point a finger and laugh, but to hopefully educate some agents into doing their due diligence and getting information about their listings.
I have been working with a buyer looking for a home near her place of work.  We have seen all kinds of properties within her price range, from the highly overpriced and meticulously maintained to the highly overpriced dumps waiting to fall apart.  Last week we walked into a really … (72 comments)

Our goal with this blog is challenging.  Although we are Realtors and we do sell properties, we want our customers to trust us and to know that we represent their best interest.  We have established a great reputation and hope to convey that message to our readers.  I want to thank Rebecca Blood who has inspired me into writing more in depth about what we do with the idea of establishing a clear road of communication where we can dialogue openly and honestly about our market.
Rick and I specialize in the South Florida Real Estate Market, specifically The Miami Shores and … (34 comments)

south florida: Winter Boating in Miami - 12/27/06 02:27 PM
For all you Northerners, you may think that Miami has no winter, but I want to explain to you that although it is not cold, locals, for the most part, do not swim here during Winter.  If you go to the beach during winter and see people swimming or water skiing, most of those will be tourists enjoying the non-freezing waters of South Florida.
Today we decided to go boating to take a visitor friend of ours around the tourist attractions inside Biscayne Bay.  The temperature started in the 50's and went up to the high 60's, the day was beautiful, but the breeze was … (39 comments)
