A new housing project has been given the go-ahead in Carlsbad California.
The Quarry Creek Development in Carlsbad, a 656 planned community of homes, has been approved by the City Council amidst much controversy and debate, and efforts to prevent the approval.
Or at least attempts to encourage scaling back the size.
Advocates of open space have faced off with supporters of affordable housing in Carlsbad for an extended period to attempt to preserve the space rather than creating another housing development.
Construction is set to start in June 2013 on new oceanview condos in the Carlsbad Village area.
These 35 new condo homes are being built on the site of an existing multi-building apartment complex at the north end of Ocean Street near Carlsbad Village and reportedly will offer unobstructed views of the ocean and the Buena Vista Lagoon.
