seo: Ask An Ambassador: How To Beat The 800 Pound Gorilla - 05/24/17 07:08 AM
If you are frustrated, or concerned, about the big portals of the online real estate world, stop worrying. Here are the things that will help you beat 'em at their own game.

I hope you will stop by the original post and comment there, too!
The big portals make a lot of agents anxious. Z/T/R.com & the big brokers all have WAY more money then we'll ever hope to have.  They can out advertise us pretty easily. They make an announcement and the whole industry quivers.
They're 800 pound gorillas and we're chipmunks.
Seriously, how can we as single agents or small … (12 comments)

seo: I Don’t Get Paid for Spring Cleaning so I Did it for Free Anyway! - 03/23/17 01:40 PM
ActiveRain Spring Cleaning Challenge for March 2017

Debbie Laity issued quite a lofty task to ActiveRain members in her It’s Time for Some Spring Cleaning with the Spring Cleanup Challenge for March 2017. The extra points are a nice incentive to get going on cleaning up some old posts, but truthfully it’s something we should probably be working on year-round to fix those dirty older posts.

The challenge of Spring Cleaning, and with cleaning up some of my old posts, is getting started, as it is with many tasks which aren’t necessarily fun despite being important.

I admit to a bit of procrastinating, … (17 comments)

If you want to know how to make some in-roads against the 800 pound gorillas of real estate (Bill's words) on the search engines, Bill Spear's post will help get you there...from someone who knows what they are doing.

It's not easy these days with so many players, but Bill (of BLiz) provides some terrific ideas anyone can follow, whether you are new to blogging or experienced.

Please stop by his original post and share your comments there, too!

The internet is a competitive landscape for real estate bloggers.  We're going up against the big 800 pound gorillas of real estate trying … (11 comments)

seo: Is it Time to Spruce up Some of Those Old Posts? - 12/30/15 11:10 PM
Is it Time to Spruce up Some of Those Old Posts?

The New Year is upon us and with it comes plans for making changes, whether personal, business, or otherwise. You may be one who makes New Year’s resolutions – I don’t – but we are not here to debate whether you should or not, discuss how one keeps them, avoiding guilt when you don’t, and so on. You can have that debate over a glass of champagne New Year’s Eve.

Many of us have finished (or are finishing) a business plan for the New Year, which probably includes social media and blogging (how, … (76 comments)

seo: You Really Seem to Know a Lot About the Area!! - 12/26/14 09:18 AM

You Really Seem to Know a Lot About the Area!!

I do a lot of work with relocations and often have buyers here who are not from the area and don’t know much about it; some have never been here before but are moving here, or want to, for one reason or another.

I recently had another buyer comment that “you really seem to know a lot about the area!” after we spent some time looking at homes and exploring neighborhoods.

Learning as much as possible about the Carlsbad area has been important to me as … (40 comments)

seo: Are You Using Your Timeless Posts to Their Best Advantage? - 12/05/13 10:39 AM
Are You Using Your Timeless Posts to Their Best Advantage?

We all know that having posts that are timeless is important.

You know the ones that people will find year after year and which are still relevant, regardless of the topic.

You DO know that right?

Well, now you do, if you didn’t know before.

Are you creating timeless posts? They’ve been talked about at ActiveRain University and Bob has made a big deal about doing them and why. Or are you aware but not implementing this blogging strategy.

By the way, I … (43 comments)

seo: Google Helped Make the Decision to List - 06/28/12 03:19 PM
Google Helped Make the Decision to List
I love Google, for a host of reasons.

Perhaps I should say I love getting noticed on Google. It’s an ego thing, on one level.

And, more importantly, a business thing on another.

Writing posts that get found by buyers and sellers who are doing targeted searches is a key reason many of us are here.

ActiveRain gets a ton of traffic and writing targeted articles that show up in buyer and seller searches brings us to their door.

Literally.

seo: What I Know About SEO is YEO - 02/03/12 01:26 PM

What I Know About SEO is YEO I still remember when I first heard the acronym, YEO. It was early 2007.
Things were buzzing about SEO, although not to the extent they are today. Now we see daily articles by the dozens about SEO techniques and their importance, receive multiple calls a week with guarantees to get us on the top of page 1 of Google, and get invites to classes and webinars specifically designed to optimize our sites and placement on the SERPs.
SEO is far more complicated than it was 4 or 5 years ago.
Oh, people knew … (9 comments)

seo: How DID They Find You? - 07/09/10 04:33 AM
Knowing how your prospects find you is important. Whether it's from print, on-line activity, or other means there is tremendous value in understanding how your marketing and visibility, or lack of, are working.

Do YOU know how they found you?

It's not always easy to determine, and I am willing to bet many folks don't bother to ask. There are times when I don't, or I don't query enough to really understand if what I am doing to generate business is, in fact, working. That's not smart. My bad.
There are lots of ways for buyer and seller prospects … (90 comments)
