San Diego County implemented mandatory water restrictions in response to our serious drought, perhaps the worst in years, in 2014.
Carlsbad has now reportedly implemented the toughest water restrictions in San Diego County, reducing our landscape watering to just 1 day per week for no more than 8 minutes per watering station (for customers of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District).
But I've not seen any official notice as yet from the City of Carlsbad - perhaps in the next bill?
The new restrictions will take effect December 1 and are reportedly needed to (5 comments)
Due to the continuing drought, the California Governor recently issued new water conservation restrictions, requesting a state-wide 25% reduction of drinkable urban water use until February 2016. The state Water Board then proposed regulations in order to help achieve that reduction, based on per capita use
Here the Carlsbad Municipal Water District responded with some specific restrictions for residents, based on Carlsbad’s average of 133 gallons per person usage, to help conserve more water, on top of conservation requirements put in place last year.

California Declared a Drought State of Emergency This is no doubt not a surprise to anyone living here. Many can probably not remember the last time we had rain. Governor Jerry Broad declared a drought emergency for California late last week, calling this possibly the worst drought on record, with much of the state in the second most severe category of drought. Many are now calling for mandatory water conservation measures as we have seen in the past, although the San Diego County Water Authority has not yet implemented mandatory water conservation measures – but it’s only a (40 comments)
