Beach UpdatesWe went razor clam digging last weekend for the opening dig and I've got to report that we had a great time. It seems the more often you go, the easier it gets to find the holes to suck them up. Anyway, we got our clams, took them home, cleaned them and then fried 'em up. They're so good... and the price is right. Anyway, if you haven't eaten razor clams and done the whole "dig 'em up and eat them" thing, you're really missing out. Again, really good and really easy. This is a pretty good instructional video I (1 comments)

Beach Updates Celebrating the 4th of July in Ocean Shores is really a pretty darn cool experience. First of all, you can set off fireworks on the beach pretty much anytime from June 28th through July 5th. Check with the Police or Fire Departments for the specifics. On the actual 4th of July, the beach is a crazy place. Forget that, the entire town is quite nuts on the 4th. It's the day that brings the most tourists into town. It's the biggest day of the year in Ocean Shores. The beaches are packed with cars and people hanging out with bonfires, music, refreshments, good times (0 comments)
Ocean Shores Real Estate Update It's no secret that 2009 was a horrible year for most if not all business's (except Walmart of course). Not unlike the rest of the country, real estate sales were again slow at the beach and down nearly 13% from the previous year. The First Time Home Buyer tax credit had very little effect out here as most of our (0 comments)
It’s Pelican Season! Ocean Shores hosts some of the best birding locations on the West Coast with more species per location than possibly anywhere else in Washington. Currently, large flocks of brown pelicans are putting on spectacular displays, diving into the bay and surf along the coast. Brown Pelicans begin to arrive on the Washington coast in June and their numbers peak in September. By late October, they’re all pretty much back down south.
If you're not really into watching birds, I'm with you. But these guys, they're cool to watch. Unique among the world's (1 comments)
Spring Time means Whale Migration Time! It's starting to look a lot like spring with daffodils blooming and new leaves taking shape on the trees. Along the coast, spring time means whale time! The season typically begins in late March to coincide with the migration of gray whales, which often stop to feed in Grays Harbor on their annual trip from Baja, CA to feeding grounds in Alaska. The season lasts until the end of May. While many people will venture out to watch the whales on a charter boat, I prefer to save a coin and watch them from (0 comments)

Wintertime Storm WatchingVertical rain, 70 mph wind and 30-foot swells don't sound much like visitor attractions, but Washington coast storm watching is the thing to do out here on the beach during the winter months. Dozens of ferocious storms typically batter the coast between November and March. January and February traditionally deliver the most wicked weather. The wintertime storms in Ocean Shores are awesome to watch and experience. Watching Mother Nature do her thing is truly a spectacular site. If you can, make your way down to the North Jetty next time we get a good winter storm. The power and impact (0 comments)
