Is the Santa Cruz Real Estate Market Shifting? There has been a lot of talk over the past 6 months about a change in the market, not just locally in Santa Cruz but also in Silicon Valley and nationally. The rate of appreciation of home values has slowed down, homes are taking a bit longer to sell and we are seeing more price reductions locally in Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz Home Values Rebound I've been taking a look at graphs of Santa Cruz home values over the past 10 years and it does look like quite the roller coaster ride. We had incredibly fast real estate appreciation followed by a quick downward slide that has lasted for years. In a recent article on RealEstate.com Riding the Trillion Dollar Real Estate Recovery Coaster they state that after the huge real estate crash and loss in home values, on a National level we have recovered about 1/3 of what we have lost over this past year in 2012!
