Happy Labor Day Weekend from Sanibel Island Ross and I enjoyed a nice afternoon at the beach on Sanibel yesterday. The crowds were definitely bigger due to the holiday weekend, but not in our immediate area. Several boats were anchored along the shore when we arrived but soon departed. Guests and owners were in full force at nearby Sundial, with umbrellas providing some shade on the sand and kayaks and paddle boards on the water. The public beach, Gulfside Beach, to the north of us had several visitors, as well. The low tide allowed us to view thousands of sand dollars just a few feet below the surface. Florida Beaches In and Around Cape Coral You’re in Florida. Of course you want to know where the beaches are located. Here are a few that I can personally vouch for and you should consider visiting. SANIBEL ISLAND-can travel to by car or boat. $3 per hour charge to park at public beaches such as Bowman's Beach, Gulfside Beach, Lighthouse Beach, etc.
CAYO COSTA-must travel to by boat. State park facilities are located at northern end of island. Cabins and tent sites are available.
MANASOTA KEY-can travel to by car or boat. Stump Pass Beach State Park is located at southern end of island. … (5 comments)

What To Do with All of those Sanibel Shells! One of the main reasons people flock to Sanibel Island is because there is an abundance of shells on the beach. It is fun to pick through the mounds of shells to find that perfect lettered olive, shark eye, or colorful scallop. You can end up going home each time with buckets of shells and then having to find a spot for them. There are many craft and display ideas on the internet but I saw a beauty just the other day in my neighborhood…a shell mailbox.
