Minneapolis MN Homes The buzz word in Real Estate this year is “Strategic Default” Its becoming more clear that financially capable homeowners are walking away from their mortgages due to the massive losses in equity. Rather than liquidate other investments or attempt to do a Short Sale many home owners with significant assets are opting for a more calculated financial decision. Rather than fight until the bitter end and wait out the market for an unknown amount of time to recover equity, homeowners who choose to default on purpose simply stop making payments and walk away. Short Sales make good "business" sense This past two weeks in Minnesota we have seen an influx in sellers of all kinds having interest in looking into selling their home on a short sale. Gone are the days where it makes sense to ride out the market correction and wait for your equity to return. More Americans are now realizing this is not a reality and many times it makes financial sense to rid themselves of an asset that has so much negative equity. remax: Twin Cities Housing Supply Outlook

Houses for sale in the Twin Cities metro are are at a 7.1 month supply in July. This figure represents the amount of months it would take to sell through all the existing houses on the market assuming no further homes were listed. A balanced market tends to be in the 5 month range. Based on that we are still in a buyers market. The months supply is slightly better that last year (7.3 months for 2009) but significantly better than 2008 which was at 10.6 months. Within the next 60 days we should start to see the true market here (0 comments)

CNNMoney.com came out with their list of the Top 100 places in the Country. Eden Prairie Minnesota ranked #1 on the list with many attributes pulling it to the top. The article states, "Why is Eden Prairie No. 1 this year? Not only is it family-friendly, it has a dynamite economy too.At 5.1%, its unemployment rate is nearly one percentage point below the county rate and more than four points below the national average.
