notary accounting: July 1, 2010 Mileage Rates - 03/08/10 02:52 PM
I was teaching a loan signing course for www.notaryclasses.com yesterday in Anaheim CA and I had a tax accountant in the room and she told me the mileage rate for business mileage  is updated every Jan 1st and July 1st and July 1,2010 the rate will be $0.55 per mile.
In my opinion, mileage should be documented everyday and put in a log.  Lots of money!!

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) for business will be: 50 cents per mile for business miles driven .
Be sure you record very careful documentation for every Notary/Loan Signer appointment you take.
Remember the mileage includes, for instance, when you pick up letter/legal size paper at Costco/etc.
You can always keep track of you expenses that you actually experience and keep track them of them item by item.
I am not a tax expert and just trying to be helpful.

Quick Book is a great accounting system as a I am sure many of you know.
I use Quicken Home & Business because it has a Mileage Tracker and I can invoice off it.
