Now that its prime time for seasonal rental reservations I thought I would explain what the Tourist Development Tax is. The Tourist Development Tax is a 5% charge on the revenue generated from rentals of six months or less. This amount is in addition to the state sales tax which is 6.5% in Palm Beach County.  The State's portion goes to the Florida Department of Revenue and the other 5%, the Tourist part, is sent to the Palm Beach County Tax Collector.  All renters are required to pay this tax even if they are residents of Florida.

Even the dogs live the good life in Boca Raton.  The Canine Cove Dog Park is up and running at South County Regional Park just off of Glades Rd. in West Boca Raton. This is a Palm Beach County facility which is very nicely laid out with separate areas for big dogs and small dogs.  Enjoy one of three gazebos, water fountains for your dogs and even a pet washing station.  The hours are sunrise to sunset but it does close on Wednesday from 12 noon to 3pm. Things are improving as we move along and I know here in my office in Boca Raton things are really picking up.  Many buyers are starting to feel good about buying and they should.  Many are still watching the parade go by. 
Hopefully this upward trend will continue as we go through the year and I expect many buyers will get serious in the summer months. There are currently 33,681 properties on the market in Palm Beach County.
There are 46 months of inventory available at this time.
734 properties closed in the month of December.
725 properties went under contract in December.

Almost 700 properties closed in Palm Beach County in the month of November.  An additional 804 more homes were placed under contract.  We still have approximately 50 months of inventory at this time with the average days on market at 145.  This remains a great time to buy!
