The land located at Ocean Strand Dr. and A1A in Boca Raton hopefully will remain green as the Boca Raton City Council yesterday initiated a zoning change on the property.  This will take some time but the hope is that the zoning will be changed to "Park" and stay that way for this 15 acres.

        Real Estate will always be a great investment. The market will change but long term you will be happy you are a homeowner.
        Compare it to gold which you hear so much about.  The value of gold over the last thirty years has not even kept up with inflation.  On the other hand if you purchased a home 30 years ago you would have about a 250% gain even with the drop in values that we had.  You also were able to live in the house and take advantage of all the tax deductions as well.

south florida: Palm Beach County Sales Tax Reduced - 12/22/10 01:09 AM
Great tax news from Palm Beach County. Starting January 1, 2011 the sales tax will be 6% instead of 6.5%. The .5% was put on for the construction of schools and expires on December 31, 2010.  Every little bit helps and remember if you are a seasonal renter or you rent your property out for less than 6 months this will lower your tax obligation.

Have you ever wondered why very few people if any ever really got a loan modification from their lender?  Many may have started the process but I have never actually met anyone that really received one.

south florida: Foreclosure Activity is Down in South Florida - 12/17/10 04:26 AM
Foreclosure activity is down across South Florida for a few reasons. As we move along in this cycle things do eventually start slowing down and hopefully the banks are doing all they can to keep people in their homes. 
The main reason is that the banks are holding back some of the foreclosure inventory because of the robo signing issue that has been in the news. They also usually slow down with foreclosure activity anyway in December during the holidays.

The best thing about these ridiculously cold temperatures is knowing that they will be leaving us shortly.  Its actually a great time to break out any clothes you used to like to where.  We will be lucky to hit 65 today but looking at the rest of the country thats nots so bad.  We should be in the 70's by tomorrow.

Surprisingly even in a slow market you still see homeowners trying to sell their home on their own. I guess some of these property owners are forced to go this route because they are just about upside down and can't pay a professional Realtor to do it for them but I am sure many are just trying to save some money, but will they?
The answer is most of the time they will lose money. Only about 9% of property owners are electing to give this a try these days with most of those hiring a Realtor after they get no results.

Its amazing how even the thought of cutting a major benefit of owning real estate could come up in Congress as a way to improve things.  Cuts have to be made in these challenging times but wouldn't it make sense to stay away from anything that would effect the real estate market?
Currently the limit for the Mortgage Interest Deduction or MID is limited to 1 million dollars and you can take it on second homes as well as your primary residence.  One proposal is to drop the amount down to $500,000 and apply it to primary residences only.  Another proposal is to … (1 comments)
