maps: Brand Yourself With A Simple But Distinctive Map

This simple, but distinctive map is included in my generalized posts about Northern Virginia. It is simple, but colorful and it provides me with an image that is unique to me - it's branding. Local posts are an important part of our blogging strategy. We believe the maps we develop for each subdivision we promote is one reason for our local blogs being so effective. This Lake Ridge map appears at the bottom of all of our Lake Ridge hyper-local posts and a similar map appears at the end of the 30 hyper-local communities that we regulary report on. We have redone this map tutorial since ActiveRain members regularly request information on our distinctive maps. maps: A Simple But Effective Tool To Enhance Your "Brand"

Over the last two years I have developed maps that I use on my hyper-local subdivision posts as well as posts about area businesses. The last post I wrote on how to develop the maps was Making Distinctive Maps Using PowerPoint The finished product will resemble this map of Lake Ridge
You will also notice my post ending resembles a business card. Both the maps and my "business card" are frequently commented on by people who contact me. The most important feature of the process is to make a map with the basic information stored. Once you are "there" it is easy to "drop in" information for a specific map.
