palm realty homes activities and happenings: A New Hotel For Satellite Beach - 08/29/17 08:51 AM
On my way to and from the office, there is a piece of land in Satellite Beach, across the street from the beach, that has been For Sale forever. Well, it appears that it has sold and we now know what is going to be done with the approximately 1.2 acres of land. A development group is looking to build Florida’s first solar-powered hotel right here in Satellite Beach. On the southwest corner of A1a and Desoto Parkway will be a project that is slated to use 80% less energy than a conventional building of its type. A great concept for the Sunshine … (0 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: Expect More Sonic Booms on the Space Coast in August - 07/28/17 08:03 AM
NASA has announced that they will begin doing research on the Space Coast regarding Sonic Booms. The research called Sonic Booms in Atmospheric Turbulence, or SonicBAT  is intended to lead to a better understanding of how low altitude atmospheric turbulence affects sonic booms in humid climates such as we have here in Brevard County.
Beginning August 21 and continuing for 10 days, NASA will fly the F/A-18 Hornet out of The Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing Facility flying to an altitude of 32,000 feet. From there the Hornet will accelerate to Mach 1, the speed of sound, to produce sonic booms. At … (3 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: Diary of a Florida Hurricane - Part 4 - 10/10/16 04:54 AM
I must say it's kind of creepy sitting in a Orlando hotel room with your pets watching the TV for any sign that your home may get blown away. The fur babies slept peacefully as long as I was there with them. There was a curfew in Orlando so that wasn't really much of a problem.
The weather service was calling the storm "catastrophic" so I was more than fine to stay put. By Friday most of the worst was over. The barrier islands had been under a mandatory evacuation order, and in order to save the infrastructure of the water system the … (1 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: The Arguments Surrounding Gun Control - 06/15/16 09:37 AM
I fully admit that this is just my opinion. There are many people that are calling for gun reform. There seems to me that there are three basic positions on this issue.
1.) Those that want all guns banned.
2.) Those that want absolutely nothing to change from the way it is today.
3.) Those that want more stringent checks and balances applied when someone wants to purchase a firearm.
Personally I fall into the 3rd group. I own firearms, and I went through all of the background checks, fingerprinting etc that was required when I purchased my first gun. What I am hearing, however, … (0 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: Let's Not Give the Terrorists What They Want - 06/15/16 07:43 AM
I unfortunately have had a "front row seat" to more shootings than anyone would ever  want.
- I remember the exact moment when I learned of the Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, CO in 1999.
- I was horrified to hear of the Platte Canyon High School shootings in Bailey, CO in 2006. That sicko molested his hostages before shooting young Emily Keyes in the head.
- By 2012, I was sick to my stomach to wake up to the news about the Theater shootings in Aurora, CO.
- The massacre in Orlando this past Sunday was just another horrible piece of … (0 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: A Rainbow at the End of the Storm - 06/13/16 07:56 AM
We had some pretty severe storms here recently. The rains were torrential with the remnants of Tropical Storm Colm...I didn't even have to put any water in my pool, the rain did it for me! But look at what we had at the end, a beautiful rainbow that stretched across the sky. You stack that on top of the ocean, and wow...PRETTY!

palm realty homes activities and happenings: A Cruise Ship and a Space Ship meet in a bar...port... - 06/08/16 05:44 AM
I have enthusiastically written of my admiration for Elon Musk. The man is a revolutionary! He sends rockets into space and brings the rockets back to Earth for re-use! I love this concept because it will dramatically cut down on the space garbage that is in our orbit. When SpaceX lands their rockets, it is on a barge out in the Atlantic. They are then towed back into port.
Well here is a picture you won't see just anywhere. The picture below is of a cruise ship and a space ship. Yes, you read that right, a cruise ship and a space … (2 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: SpaceX and Elon Musk Do it Again! - 05/06/16 12:49 AM
I have blogged about how much I admire Elon Musk and SpaceX before. Well, this past week SpaceX launched a rocket from the Cape in the middle of the night. The rocket launched a Japanese communications satellite into orbit. Night launches are always spectacular.
As you can see from the video below, the excitement of rocket launches doesn't get old even for the crew at Cape Canaveral.

After the satellite was launched, the first stage of the Falcon rocket landed safely on a floating platform out in the Atlantic ocean, thus allowing it to possibly be reused. As the rocket touched … (2 comments)

Every day at noon at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, you can enjoy lunch with a different astronaut! Your NASA astronaut will tell you about what it really feels like to be in orbit above Earth. He or she will give a … (0 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: The American Dream Miami, America's Newest and Largest Mall - 03/08/15 08:47 AM
I remember when people that I knew were flying out of Denver and into Minneapolis on one day round trip flights for the sole purpose of shopping at the Mall of America. Now I certainly don’t like shopping enough to even spend a full day at it much less flying somewhere just to shop, BUT, there are obviously those that do! So, I found it interesting to learn that the developers that built the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, Triple Five, are now planning another project in Miami-Dade County. The Mall of America is currently the largest shopping mall in … (1 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: The Fresh Market Set To Open In Suntree in 2015 - 03/05/15 03:16 AM
As I mentioned in my blog about Pineda Landing, The Fresh Market is coming to the Space Coast of Brevard County. Founded in North Carolina in 1982, The Fresh Market has been expanding into areas of Florida recently. The Fresh Market features fresh cut meat, fresh  produce and fresh cut flowers (YES!). It was the intention of the owners of The Fresh Market to build a store that was reminiscent of the old time “general stores” that many of our parents grew up with. Classical music was played and The Fresh Market made it a point to support local businesses and … (4 comments)

palm realty homes activities and happenings: Pineda Landing to be Built in Suntree! - 03/05/15 02:25 AM

Pineda Landings is a new shopping plaza that is being built at the intersection of Wickham Rd and Jordan Blass Drive in Suntree.  The groundbreaking for Brevard County’s new mall was Wednesday March 4th. The tenants for the new shopping plaza have not yet been named, buy it is known that the anchor store for the new plaza will be The Fresh Market, which I for one am very excited about. I have genuinely missed having a gourmet market on the Space Coast, and knowing that The Fresh Market is coming is great news! Pineda Landing is being built by … (2 comments)
