Usually in the Springtime I plant both of my planters in front of my house with flowers but upon closer examination of my planters I saw a little clump of twigs. It was a tightly formed circle and inside were 5 little blue eggs. I couldn't disturb this hardworking Mom so I just waited. It was easy to watch the goings on as I hid behind the window at my front door and watched the mother sitting on her soon to be brood undetected. Yes here they are in all their glory - nudists doing their thing to promote their idea of a fun weekend in our greater Wilmington area. We do have a nudist camp in Southeastern NC. Are you in this picture? Then you know how much fun it was or how much fun I missed. In an effort to promote our area and show all its " good traits" and happenings I wanted to include this. This weekend the big Wilmington Battleship Fireworks will take on Saturday over the Cape Fear River. It is the most glorious 4th celebration with fireworks launched from the battleship and all the folks lined up along the river walk to catch the excitement. There are street vendors with food and drinks all along the streets. Carolina Beach will have its boardwalk celebration and fireworks Friday July 3. The amusement park will have its rides running so it will be fun for kids and older kids too. The town of Southport is expecting 40,000 visitors for their 4th of July … (1 comments)

This weekend at Carolina Beach on Sunday the Tales of Desperaux will be shown by the Lake. The movie starts at 8 pm. On Saturday Blue Moon Gift shops on Racine Drive will have a fundraiser for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital from 2pm to 5 pm. All proceeds from a raffle will be given to the hospital which had its banner year with 54 turtles in rehabilitation. On Saturday in Burgaw, NC just north of Wilmington will be the Blueberry Festival. Tens of thousands enjoy the berry frosts, ice cream,berry cobbler, crafts, antiques and all sorts of foods. There is a lot of things happening this weekend in Wilmington, NC. The beaches are in full swing and the summer season is well underway. Carolina Beach has its amusement park open right off the Boardwalk and next to the Marriott. There are also movies at the lake every Sunday night and Fireworks on Thursday nights. This is the 4th Gay Pride week in Wilmington with events scheduled all weekend. They include a street fair, parade and concert with the famous Ru Paul performing at the Hilton Inn downtown. The RIDES are finally here in Carolina Beach NC and will open today at 4 pm with a ribbon cutting. There will be fireworks also tonite and free movies Sunday night at the Lake. The ORANGE street festival is tomorrow on Orange Street with all kinds of vendors - arts and crafts for sale along the street. Harbor Island Garden tour is this Friday, May 15,2009. This is such a treat where people can tour 6 waterfront homes to benefit the Junior Gardening prograns and beatification projects at Wrightsville Beach. Yeah it is finally happening. Something fun, something for the family just for 4 months is coming to Carolina Beach - an amusement park with rides, food and some games. This will be set up with in a month on some empty lots on the recently upgraded Carolina Beach Boardwalk. Food will be provided by one the restaurants in the area. My co-worker Linda Mehner will brave the Carolina Beach chilllly Atlantic for a little Polar Bear Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics. Pleasure Island just south of Wilmington has some exciting holiday events planned for this weekend. The Pleasure Island parade is Friday night and takes place in downtown Carolina Beach - running north on Lake Park Blvd. Kids of all ages will love the many entries that include floats, bands and entertainers. On Saturday night Pleasure Island has its own version of the Holiday Flotilla.
