San Dimas Market Watch - February 12-18, 2014
Okay so, it's a fabulous time for sellers the city of San Dimas, CA.  This week in San Dimas  6 new listings came on the market.  It looks like folks in San Dimas have started to put their trust back into the housing market in San Dimas.
There were  5 homes that went pending (into the escrow process) and 1 sold homes this past week.  No listings expired and 2 more have gone into back-up which means an original offer has been accepted and they are simply taking back up offers in case the first one backs out or falls out.  Pretty smart in these crazy real … (0 comments)

San Dimas Market Watch - May 24-30, 2013
Okay, so I know I have been away for a couple of weeks, but I was visiting my son in NoCal. It was his birthday and he was commissioned as a youth pastor at a church while we were up there.  Such an exciting time in his life!
Now, let's get down to it.  This week in San Dimas only 5 new listings came on the market.  Not very many considering the huge jump in prices we have seen in the last couple of months.  It seems like more people in San Dimasshould be ready to do that … (0 comments)

San Dimas Market Stats, April 16-23, 2013

Okay so, last week there were a total of 7 new listings in the City of San Dimas.  When you compare this week's 7 listings to the 5 sold homes it doesn't give you enough of a picture.  But when you combine the 5 sold with 4 more pending, that's 9 and you can see that there aren't going to be many homes on the market for very long.  Okay, so the last statistics have proven to you that it is definitely a SELLERS MARKET.  But the trend is continuing and even escalating here in San Dimas, CA.
What does this mean to … (2 comments)

san dimas: Tips on Adjusting to a new school - 08/11/12 02:52 AM
My friend Dorrie Dillard has some great advice for kids in a new school.  It's hard to be the new kid and this blog has some great pointers for parents as well as kids.
Please leave any comments on Dorrie's original post as she's the genius behind the blog!
Transitioning from one home to another can be especially difficult for school age children who have legitimate concerns:  Will I get along with my new teacher?  Will I make friends easily?  Who will I talk to at recess? Will I be behind the other kids?  Making new friends, meeting new teachers, learning different subjects and finding … (0 comments)

San Dimas Folks Simply Get Involved
Okay, so I love the title of this blog because it's so true.  San Dimas as a community is very involved in many activities from the Western Days Rodeo to the Veteran's Memorial to the Farmer's Market, there is something to do here for everyone!
But today's blog is about how the individual people in San Dimas really care and get involved.  I was reading a news story, (ya another article from Linda!) and was simply impressed by the dedication of this family.  They are running not one, not two, but FOUR marathons to help raise money for … (1 comments)

san dimas: La Verne State of The City and School District - 01/30/12 11:03 AM
La Verne State of The City and School District
Okay, so I was reading an article about the State of the City and School District in the City of La Verne.
Mayor Don Kendrick along with Bonita Unified Superintendent of Schools (which covers both San Dimas and La Verne) Gary Rapkin made a joint presentation to share how things are going along.
The City of La Verne portion stated that there are major budget cuts coming due to the fact that the federal government has dissolved all of the Redevelopment Agencies.  This will lower the budget for this year by $4M and then $2M in the … (2 comments)

san dimas: Speechless Saturday - Sort Of - 09/17/11 08:24 AM
Okay, so I know it's not Sunday, but can't we have a silent Saturday, just this once?

I just wanted to share some amazing/fun pictures with you from the Los Angeles County Fair.  And to say that from San Dimas, La Verne or Claremont it only takes like 10 or 15 minutes to get there.  So close and so fun.  They have even started selling season passes so you can go any time during the entire month and enjoy!

One of the three (yep, count 'em three) ferris wheels!

DRESS THE CHILD, 2011
Okay, so today was the amazing event DRESS THE CHILD which is hosted every year by the amazing group of women who call themselves the La Verne San Dimas Chapter of the Soroptimists.
This is the "16th annual" event which is held at the San Dimas Target Store.  And for the last years, Susan Snyder has been the chirwoman of this wonderful event.  (Standing ovation!)  She is stepping down and not one, but two women will be in charge next year.  What does that say about how big this job is!

The event itself is for children who may … (7 comments)

Bonita Unifed School District - Home of the Rising Test Scores
Okay, so I was excited to see yet another article today... I know, I know.  This one was about Bonita Unified School Districtwhich covers the cities of BOTH San Dimas and La Verne.  And I was excited to see that the district is making progress in those STAR testing scores.

Personally, I don't think this is a great test of how a school district is doing.  There are plenty of kids who freeze up when you say test and can't think straight.  I know because I have one of those in my home.  What … (1 comments)

SAN DIMAS - HOME OF THE SAINTS
Okay, so if you're just moving into the area for SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL, you're in for a treat.  If you've been here for a while, this blog will be useful for you.
San Dimas is home of the SAINTS.  And their website is done by the students.  Which is all well and good, but there are no school sports calendars YET.  That's okay, so I'll write about the SCHOOL CHOIR CALENDAR.  I found it a very interesting calendar as they have performances right from the get-go!  September 9th begins with a choir retreat and that very next … (0 comments)

san dimas: FIVE CITIES MARATHON COMES TO A TOWN NEAR YOU! - 08/09/11 07:46 AM
FIVE CITIES MARATHON COMES TO A TOWN NEAR YOU!
Okay, so I was reading a newspaper article about marathons.  It was talking about a SAN DIMAS based group that is puttin together a 26.2 mile run through our corner of the world.  How exciting that running enthusiasts here don't have to go all the way to downtown Los Angeles to get their running fix any longer.
The group who call themselves FIVE CITIES MARATHON have scouted out a route that leads right through the center of my real estate area!  The route, which has chosen five cities near our beautiful foothills, will go through the … (0 comments)

SAN DIMAS REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH - JULY 23-29, 2011

Okay, I have made a decision.  I know this shocks and surprises you (LOL NOW!) but I actually have.  The HIGHS AND LOWS series that I started will be seperate blogs because there was so much content.  It would be way too long if it was all in the same blog.  So Friday's will be the same REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH and the beginning of the week will be the HIGHS AND LOWS.
So here we go again, and let's start with the most important thing - THE PRICING!  Seriously, when will agents out there learn their … (0 comments)

CLAREMONT REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH - JULY 9-15, 2011

Okay, so I got to thinking, since so many people have been reading my weekly posts on LA VERNE and SAN DIMAS, why not write for another couple of cities.  So I have chosen CLAREMONT, which is the next town over from LA VERNE to add for this week.
It seems I have been missing out on some great stats with the CITY OF CLAREMONT. Nineteen new listings, wow, a lot of people azre trying to sell in the city right now!  And with four back on the market, that makes a total of 23 homes added to … (3 comments)

san dimas: ASK THE MAYOR COMES BACK TO SAN DIMAS! - 07/11/11 06:57 AM

ASK THE MAYOR COMES BACK TO SAN DIMAS!
Okay, so the City of San Dimas has just brought back their "ASK THE MAYOR" TELEVISION PROGRAM after a year long vacation.  With this new launch of the program, you can now email your questions in so they can be answered by the Mayor himself!  Before it was a call in show and questions were answered as they came in.
The new email feature was given so people could be more specific (they call it flexible) in asking the questions of the Mayor and his guests. I guess it also gives the Mayor more time to … (0 comments)

san dimas: BACK TO SCHOOL IN SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE - 08/25/09 09:46 AM
The kids went back to school yesterday with a big bang!  Two weeks before Labor Day, and it's already that time.  But that's okay, because Bonita Unified School District knows what they are doing.

You can tell from their district website http://www.bonita.k12.ca.us/ that they have nothing to hide.  With Academic Performance Index topping out at 828 out of 1000, they are pretty good at deciding what the kids need to accomplish their goals - a fantastic education!  They link to The California Exit Exam website and the STAR testing website where you can view their performance as well. So, … (1 comments)
