glen echo park: Lise's Local Landmarks and Lore - Clara Barton House - 09/09/23 07:07 AM
The Clara Barton National Historic Site, which includes the Clara Barton House, was established in 1974 to interpret the life of  Clara Barton (1821–1912), an American pioneer  teacher and nurse who founded the American Red Cross.  Her final residence (1897-1912) is located 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of washington DC in Glen Echo, MD and is open for visitors on Friday through Sunday.  The property includes 9 acres of land and the 38-room former house. glen echo park: The Praline Bakery is Now at Glen Echo Park! - 01/07/18 07:20 PM
I was so excited to read that Praline, the beloved neighborhood bakery and bistro, has opened a new location at Glen Echo Park. Named by Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema as his "Go-to Bakery," Praline serves bakery items as well as sandwiches, soups, quiches, salads, and other delicious fare. The history of Glen Echo is truly wonderful - from the days as a gold mine to a Chatauqua to an amusement park to a National Park celebrating the arts.  Glen Echo is just a mile from my house and it occupies an important part in the community with its Art Deco amusement park sign, the Children's puppet theater, and the art centers.
Then & Wow! is happening next Sunday, September 27, 2015.  Then & Wow! is the Glen Echo Park Partnership's annual family festival celebrating the Park's revitalization as an arts center and celebrating its history, when the site was an amusement … (9 comments)
