Dear Buyer, You may have heard about the new changes in the appraisal laws for any Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac mortgages which took effect recently. Beginning May 1, the responsibility for managing home appraisals moved to a middleman, known as appraisal management companies or AMCs.Under new federal regulations, mortgage brokers and loan officers can't directly order appraisals. Instead, they are expected to go through third-party AMCs, which are supposed to prevent them from pressuring appraisers. A huge new mixed-use project is coming to Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle area,thanks to the Donohoe Corportation and WDG Architecture. I want to brag about Bethesda, Maryland, my home town. Bethesda now ranks number two on Forbes.com's list of America's Most Livable Cities, right behind Portland, Oregon, which got top honors. The financial magazine makes its annual list on the basis of quality of life, including five-year income growth per household, cost of living, crime data, the culture index and unemployment. In January, Forbes.com named Bethesda as the "Most Educated Small Town" in the U.S. About two years ago Bethesda was recognized as having more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States. \ If you have never seen a girls' ice hockey game, you have missed a great sporting event. Girls aren't allowed to check, but otherwise, the game is the same as boys ice hockey. It is fast, and very exciting. Girls play ice hockey really well. We had our final hockey games this weekend at the PonyTail Tournament in York and Lancaster Pennsylvania. Our girls started out the season so badly that at times we never thought they would win two games in a row. My car is being serviced downstairs as I write this posting. I am in a private cubicle upstairs at the car dealer, using their computer, drinking my second cappucino, (I needed that to wash down the cinnamon bagel and cream cheese.) Guess what, I don't mind coming in to get my car serviced because I am not going to waste three hours out of my life. I know that there is a computer for my use, coffee, and a private room for business calls. I probably get more work done here than in my office. It is yet another reason that I love my … (4 comments)
