off topic and humor: Wow...this post puts us over 100,000 points...and a lot of dollars! - 07/17/08 06:58 AM
We have been on the AR network for about a year. We love writing posts about our neighbors, neighborhoods, subdivisions, jobs, schools, amenities, day trips, etc...
When we looked today we realized...we are only one post away from 100,000 points!

Now we do not no how to put this accomplishment into any sort of life context...but we do know that since joining AR the position of our websites, blogs, and income have all improved. We have had many direct hits, requests and sales as well as referrals from other great agents on the network.
We have picked up so many great tips...and … (9 comments)

off topic and humor: Our Trip to NYC...Post Food Coma - 07/05/08 05:04 AM
Well our family ate our way through NYC. We ate every type of food we could (Pizza John's and Lombardi's), Chinese in China Town, Junior's Cheese Cake, and Little Italy and Ferrara's for dessert.
We also looked at Co-op's for purchase (we are looking for a small vacation investment). We looked with a very nice agent who showed us around (he was new but helpful). We found a small co-op in the Murray Hill area near Park Ave we liked so we asked the agent who was assisting us to try to make an appointment. He called to let us know … (8 comments)

off topic and humor: 4th of July wishes - 07/04/08 03:29 AM
Let us not forget to think a little bit today about all the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who are putting their lives on the line for their Country. You may or may not agree with the wars in both Countries...but please remember that the young men and women who are putting their lives on the line do it on order of our Commander in Chief.
Many years from now we will look back and with some perspective and decide with clear minds if the conflicts and wars we are now in helped make our Country safer or helped reduce the threat … (7 comments)

We do not know how Katy Texas will survive without us :)

off topic and humor: We will miss you Tim Russert-America has one less icon today - 06/13/08 12:32 PM
America lost one of it's best tv journalists today-Tim Russert. We all are mourning the loss of a great icon on America today. Tim had a magical combination of getting right to the point  without intimidation. Tim made everyone he interviewed a little bit better. He was always fair, and whatever party one was affiliated with, Tim always dealt with them in a fair and non-partisan way.
America will miss Tim Russert- he was reliable, someone you could count on. You could say he was like your Sunday paper, you looked forward to waking up and seeing it every Sunday, it … (8 comments)

off topic and humor: Will high gas prices kill the burbs? - 06/08/08 06:09 AM
This is really a question. Do you think high gas prices will have middle class Americans moving back to the inner city? Are we seeing an end to the migration to a better life in the burbs???
Here are a couple of things...the aging of America would tend to feed back to the inner cities if gas was not $4 a gallon.
Highway congestion is at the point that people are looking back anyway.
Young people tend to care more about the environment and mass transportation is always a better choice.
What do you think?

off topic and humor: Round One...Mets 7 Yankees 4 - 05/17/08 09:47 AM
OK this might not be a big deal to you if you are not a Mets fan or into the inter-league MLB season....but if you are from NY (even though we live in Texas we are New Yorkers at heart) this is always a big series...and a great time to be in the big city. The Mets won round one behind their new pitching ace Johann Santana. The mets collected 13 hits and had enough pitching today to stop the Yankee attack. The Sunday night game is being televised on national TV (espn) so everyone can see all the crazy NY'ers … (3 comments)

off topic and humor: Good Luck to the Florida Marlins - 05/13/08 08:34 AM
To those out in AR land who either live in South Florida or are Florida Marlins fans your team is having a huge start and a great year so far. The reason why I am writing this blog is because it seems none of you have noticed. The average attendance at Marlins games is abysmal. The team seems to have little support so far this year (and based on the average temps in South Florida it usually does not get better in the summer).
So for those who have not been paying attention your team is in first place...with a nice … (4 comments)

off topic and humor: Is the Democratic Presidential Race Over? - 05/09/08 05:30 AM
I was watching CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and Fox news today...if you watch they are all saying the race is over...Barak Obama has won. I guess my issue with this is that we have heard that before...many times. I must admit it looks like the end has come...but I can not blame Hillary for continuing the fight...it ain't over till its over! as Yogi Berra once said.
What happens if another issue for Obama shows up between now and then? Another Rev. Wright or something like that...Democrats will be screaming for her to get back in.

off topic and humor: TIVO is a Busy Realtors Best Friend! - 05/07/08 03:36 AM
We have been quite busy of late...lots of buyers and lots of sellers. Always the same issues...the buyers are nervous about the market...the sellers do not think the home they have lived in the past five years has a single thing wrong with it (after all they did an inspection five years ago and it was perfect)!
The days seem to go by very quickly and it is already 6pm...time for dinner, then over to the kids swim lessons, then time for a bath....maybe a little family time...then collapse at about 10pm!
Thank goodness for TIVO...we no longer need to look … (3 comments)

off topic and humor: Baseball American League East Turned Upside Down! - 05/02/08 07:12 AM
I must confess I am not a big fan of the teams in the American League East....but it is always fun to watch the battle for the division...between the Red sox and Yankees. The Blue Jays always seem to be a solid team that ends up a distant third.
Not this year...the Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Oriels are doing quite well indeed! The Orioles I think will fade...but I am starting to become a believer in the Rays. maybe not this year...but in years to come. Good hitting, good young pitching, and good gloves. If they are willing to … (3 comments)

off topic and humor: Citifield in New York is getting ready for 2009 opening for METS! - 04/16/08 09:48 AM
great article on MLB.com about the Mets and the new stadium they will be playing in. In 2009 the Mets will be leaving Shea Stadium (potentially the worst stadium in baseball) and moving to Citifield. The new stadium is in the process of being built and is in the parking lot of Shea. Here is a link to some of the images as the new stadium has taken shape. The Jackie Robinson Rotunda was built in testament to the great Brooklyn Dodger Player who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball.

off topic and humor: Using The Web to Win Listings - 04/05/08 10:11 AM
We often run up against limited service Realtors or long time agents who choose to continue to business the way they did it in the 1980's and 1990's when we go on listing presentations. The potential client usual asks us up front what are commission rates are...and we always say..."That's part of our presentation and we will discuss that in full"...but we wait until after our full presentation to do it.
We discuss the way limited service brokers do business...a sign, a lock box, MLS input...and a hope that I will have a client that buys the home.
We then discuss … (0 comments)

off topic and humor: Suprise Tight Presidential Race this Fall! - 04/04/08 07:05 AM
The Presidential race between John McCain for the Republicans and the winner of the Democratic race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will is likely to be a close race that goes down to the November wire. I keep asking myself how can this be? The Republicans have been in the White House for eight years...that usually signals a little voter fatigue. Now couple that fact with the low popularity ratings for both the current President and the war in Iraq and you would think John McCain would have little chance this year.
What is the reason? Why is McCain polling … (1 comments)

off topic and humor: Pedro Martinez injured last night - 04/02/08 08:32 AM
Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez was injured (pulled hamstring) in the Mets game with the Florida Marlins last night. He was only able to get through 3 1/3 innings before the injury. This is a real shot to the Mets who I had predicted would win the National League East (as well as the entire National League) this year. We will need to wait and see how long Pedro will be out of action (injures like this can amount to 2 weeks off up to 2-3 months). Philly and Atlanta fans are celebrating...they will get a boost as long as Pedro is … (4 comments)

off topic and humor: Earth Hour March 29th, 2008...please turn out the lights! - 03/28/08 07:25 AM
In 2007 Earth Hour was first observed and many cities around the world participated including Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, San Francisco, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and many great cities outside North America. It was created by the World Wildlife Foundation in Sydney, Australia.
Here is the Deal:
on March 29th at 8pm (your own local time in your city or town) turn off your lights for 1 hour!
join in with other people from all over the globe...let us show how much we care about the Earth! Give one hour away...turn off the lights, turn off the TV, Turn out for Earth … (3 comments)

off topic and humor: Baseball Season Underway in 2008! - 03/27/08 07:58 AM
It is that time of year again...baseball games are beginning to count in the standings. The Red Sox and A's split two games in Japan. In Florida and Arizona the Grapefruit league and the Cactus league are wrapping up and it appears most teams have stayed reasonably healthy (with a few exceptions).
The excitement level in cities like New York, Philly, LA, Chicago, and Boston is unbelievable. As I talk to agents around the Country I will tell you one thing....it appears everyone thinks the team they root for has a chance to win it all.
Right now...everyone is still even … (3 comments)

off topic and humor: Why do most agents fail...and Quit the business? - 03/23/08 04:02 AM
If you are reading this you are either new to the business...or past the stage of failure (although you may be ready to pack it in and you are ready the last blog post of your career). Over the years I have watched many failures in sales of all kinds and the reasons (no matter what you sell...cars, TVs, houses, etc...) are the same.
Here is my breakdown of why, how, and how to overcome this issue:
1. Time Management: Most sales people...real estate agents included have terrible time management skill. If you can not manage your time you will work … (122 comments)

off topic and humor: Baseball Update - 03/15/08 03:58 PM
It seems that not only do we have mounting injuries for some of the teams that are favorites to either go to the World Series or at least the league championships....the injuries in general for all teams seem to be mounting. The big one to come out in the last couple of days is the injury to Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett. He will not be making the trip to Japan to start the opening game of the season. If they lose any more starters (Kurt Schilling already went down) the folks who bet the Yankees or Blue Jays … (5 comments)
