Each year for the last five years we have celebrated the Holiday Season by taking a trip on the Train of Lights. It is not a long trip – only 13 miles round trip from Niles to Sunol – or the other way around – but the distance is not the point. The point is enjoying the hour spent on the train with family, enjoying the lights, seeing the sunset, viewing Mission Peak, sipping a cup of hot cider or hot chocolate and having a visit with Santa. event: LEAGUE OF VOLUNTEERS (LOV) SERVES THANKSGIVING DINNER…AGAIN

Once again, the League of Volunteers is serving Thanksgiving Dinner at the Newark Pavilion for those who might otherwise be spending the day alone or simply do not have the resources to enjoy the bounty that so many of us take for granted on this day of gustatory overindulgence. LOV – League of Volunteers – estimates that they may serve as many as 5,000 meals today. Not only will LOV be serving those who attend the meal served at the Newark Pavilion but volunteers will also provide Thanksgiving meals for homebound diners.
