Last week brought an announcement that caught most people in Louisville off guard; Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom would be closing. As Six Flags came out of its bankruptcy restructuring, negotiations were underway on the lease they held with the Kentucky State Fair Board. On February 4, 2010 Six Flags announced the new lease terms were not accepted and that Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom would cease operations.
