Well, it has been a good week. Sold a house Monday, sold one Tuesday and sold another Wednesday. It is already 7:30 a.m. on Thursday I haven't sold one yet but I'm on a roll! It is either feast or famine in Real Estate and that is just how it seems to work. It's the slow times when you wonder why are you in this business and then it feels like they've opened the gates and let all the buyers and sellers out and it is a banquet! Earlier this week I decided to hang out the humming bird feeders and fill up the bird feeders. The first week of April the "scouts" are out to find the feeding places. I have "feeding stations" strategically planted around my house. One on the deck. One just outside the bay window in the kitchen and another outside the window of my home office. Each station has different kinds of seeds to attract different types of birds and to hopefully provide a wide variety so they don't fight so much.

In June, the James River Bateaux Festival brings a week of one of the East Coast's most unusual waterborne celebrations, centered on reproductions of 18th century shallow draft merchant boats. In their time each 60 foot craft could carry up to 20 tons of goods to Richmond and back much faster than horses and wagons. A few were discovered near Richmond in the early 1980's, allowing carpenters to rebuild the time tested design. The festival follows the river, stopping at towns along the way for various activities. Joe Bean's is the best coffee shop in the Burg! I get a cappuccino with soy and sugar free vanilla syrup. Yesterday I had their wintry mix which is a mocha with Carmel and coconut. It was deli-sh! If you buy ten you get one free. There is more than one location and I am so glad there is one on the way into the office and one right next door from the office! It is good and convenient! Operation Smoke Detector is a community service initiative that enables every household in Lynchburg to have a working smoke detector. The program mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to go door-to-door in neighborhoods throughout Lynchburg, distributing fire safety literature, checking smoke detectors, and installing new smoke detectors in homes that do not have one (at no cost to the residence - one smoke detector per household). I think as a REALTOR we sometimes think as the commission amount is helping us. But I think of it as also benefiting the seller. I call it a marketing fee, because that is what I am going to use it for. Professionals who receive commissions are hired to sell something, where as listing agents we are hired to market properties to other agents, buyers, neighbors or appraisers.
