Ormond By The Sea Florida is a mostly residential unincorporated area of Volusia County Florida between Daytona Beach and Flagler Beach, and between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River. Just outside the city limits of Ormond Beach, there are mainly condominium buildings along the beach and State Road A1A. Most of the remainder of the Peninsula is single family homes and parks.

Sea Turtle Nesting Season 2013 begins in Ormond By The Sea Florida
East Central Florida including Ormond By The Sea, Daytona Beach and all of Volusia County are under lighting restrictions from May 1 to October 31 each year. The restrictions are designed to protect several species of endangered and threatened sea turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs. On average it takes 48-60 days for their eggs to hatch.
Female turtles come ashore beginning May first and lay their eggs in the sand above the tide line.
