“Give Hunger the Bird”! Post Falls Food Bank fundraiser was a great success on Saturday! The final dollar amount will not be in until Friday and Sherry Wallis director of the Post Falls Food Bank wants to thank everyone who participated.
The generosity of this community is just unbelievable she says. So far this year the Post Falls Food Bank has distributed over 1.3 million pounds of food to people in our community in need.

Looking for something to do Saturday? For only the cost of one frozen turkey let’s say maybe you spend $15.00 or less. That’s right per person that will give you admission to the big Post Falls Food Bank fund raiser. They hope to fill a boat with frozen turkeys. Saturday is the day for the Post Falls Food Bank to give “Hunger the Bird”. This Saturday from 4pm to 8pm at StanCraft Boats located at 4739 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls is the big turkey drive. For admittance just bring a frozen turkey (one per person) and you can join in for a fun filled evening with drinks and food. There will be a silent auction as well as a live auction hosted by Dave Cotton from KHQ. Help fill a boat with frozen birds! The Food Bank has a goal of 1061 turkeys this year. Admission is one turkey per person or $25.00. There will be a live auction starting at 6:15pm which Dave Cotton from KHQ will be hosting.

Well the count is in. Post Falls Food Bank’s “Give Hunger the Bird” was a great success, last Friday night. Between cash given and actual turkeys donated, the food bank has received the equivalent of 1426 turkeys (if turkeys go on sale that number can go much higher). The other good news is that the auction items and raffles brought in $12,000 and that money will be used to buy all the other food that makes up a turkey dinner. Well it was an amazing evening at StanCraft Boats on Friday. The weather was blustery and raining but the folks in Post Falls were out to support the Post Falls Food Bank Turkey Drive. There was plenty of food and desserts; there were many good discussions among friends. The silent auction items were all getting a lot of bids. I have no idea how many turkeys were collected but I will have that information most likely next week. This was certainly a well planned event and not one to be missed. Post Falls has a great opportunity on Friday November 11th to help the Post Falls Food Bank. “Give Hunger the Bird” at Stan Craft Boat Co. at 4739 E. Seltice Way from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Bring a frozen turkey or $25.00 per person and enjoy food and beverages (there will be food from 6 different restaurants, homemade desserts and beer & wine). Post Falls Chamber Chili cook-off was last night and what a great event. There were lots of chilies and they were all great. My personal favorite was a chili made with Dr Pepper and pineapple. The flavors were well blended and balanced. Where can you get a Root Beer Float for only $1? Well you could last night from the Post Fall High School cheerleaders.
