A New Year means another 12 First Fridays lined up for your enjoyment in Santa Cruz County! For those who may not know, First Friday occurs on, you guessed it, the first friday of every month. This event is an excellent chance for locals and visitors alike to experience just some of the many great things that the Santa Cruz art scene has to offer. Various locations around town (often including coordinated events in Boulder Creek and Felton) play host to events featuring unique creations by area artists. Benefitting the Symphony's Youth Ensemble and Education Program, the Santa Cruz County Symphony will be teaming up with the White Album Ensemble to present Across the Universe and Beyond. This one of a kind performance will combine the rock 'n' roll of The Beatles in collaboration with the classical music of the symphony. No Beatles fan can resist this treat. The concert will transpire June 4th at 8 pm at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. The University of California, Santa Cruz's Big Band and Jazz Ensemble will be playing at the Catalyst club tomorrow, Wednesay the 18th. This performance will be a tribute to Charlie Parker, an American composer and jazz saxophonist. This concert is for all ages, and will be a treat for all music lovers.
