real estate: How to Right Side Up if you are Upside Down - 01/17/12 10:53 PM
This past weekend I spent time with some very special people from Right Side Up. The list of members included Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and two of his “constituent advocates”, two counselors from Bucks County Housing, the “credit doctor” from United One Resources, and out team coach Kathy Gentner from Keller Williams.
I mentioned all of the participants because in particular the members from Bucks County Housing and Congressman Fitzpatrick’s office spent their personal time helping promote our effort to assist homeowners.  A special thank you to all of those who participated.
I am often accused of being angry in … (0 comments)

real estate: Home Retention Workshop Sponsored by Right Side Up - 01/12/12 12:08 PM
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to be a member of one of the most exciting groups of people helping others in our vast community. After 37 years in the Real Estate community I have found a group of likeminded people who understand it is not about a “deal” or a “loan” but rather about the assisting real people with practical solutions to today’s difficult questions.
It is not a shock to those who know me that I am terribly passionate about real estate being the engine that will drive this economy. Right Side Up is designed to … (1 comments)

real estate: Seriously? You must be kidding! - 12/18/11 04:55 AM
The economy is struggling. The labor market is ailing. The Real Estate market is reeling. And Congress (who collectively has done absolutely nothing) needs to take a holiday break. Seriously?
I could care less about party affiliation. Red or blue, left or right give me a break. Cut payroll taxes and extend benefits but not at the expense of housing. Seriously? You must be kidding.
If the National Association of Realtors is correct that selling homes creates jobs then why on earth would congress pass a bill making it more expensive to obtain a mortgage? According to the Associated Press … (2 comments)

real estate: Buying a Home is an Investment into the American Economy - 02/01/11 01:14 AM
Owning a home is so much more than down payment, interest rates, tax deductions, appreciation rates etc. Homeownership is the biggest driving force in the American economy. Homeowners buy other things. They buy furniture, insurance, appliances. They hire landscapers, painters, and contractors. They pay County and State property taxes.
So let's see. Homeowners make it possible for firefighters, school teachers, and police officers to all keep their jobs. The small businesses in the community continue to grow.
It has always started with homeownership and it will always will.

real estate: Is Our Past Part of Our Future? - 01/18/11 05:14 AM
If the past is evidence for our future then look for the economy to gain some traction in this new year. The Dow was up .84% in the first week of trading for 2011. Historically (The January Effect) the Dow has risen on the year 74% of the time that the first week was positive.
Many economists believe that by the summer months hiring will be happening at a more measurable pace. Fueling that optimism is the health of US businesses. Profits have recovered significantly (notice GM, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and AIG have all repaid their loans). They have … (2 comments)

real estate: The Week Ahead in the Markets - 01/10/11 10:57 PM
Benchmark interest rates spent last week that bouncing around a wide yet well-defined range in advance of the highly anticipated release of December's Employment Situation Report.  While it seemed like ADP stole the show on Wednesday after a much stronger than expected report, the official read on the labor market turned out to be bullish for rate watchers. Payroll growth disappointed and although the unemployment rate fell to a 19 month low, an asterisk was needed to explain the cause of that so called improvement.
An equity sell-off in Europe, prompted by reports that France and Germany are pressuring Portugal to … (0 comments)

real estate: Good News should sell better than Bad News... - 03/22/10 10:51 PM
In Phila. area, home prices still stable
By Alan J. Heavens
Inquirer Real Estate Writer
Sometimes, owning a house in a really dull real estate market isn't such a bad thing: When price bubbles don't inflate wildly, neither do they burst painfully.
Take the metropolitan Philadelphia area's median home price, which was just $1,000 higher at the end of last year, to $228,300, than it was when real estate values began bubbling nationwide in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to a new report by IHS Global Insight of Lexington, Mass.
(The median price is the middle value; half the houses … (0 comments)
