If you think your property is assessed too high, you have the right to appeal to the Value Adjustment Board by September 13, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. There is a filing fee of $15.00 According to the property appraiser's website, the Truth in Millage or TRIM Notices to Florida’s homeowners were mailed out to property owners on August 19, 2013.

Not to long ago I had a call from an out of state gentleman who told me that he was interested to rent a property in Lakeland FL which he found on Craigslist but wanted to make sure that this was a legitimate ad. He told me that he emailed the owner to inquire and the owner replied that he is currently on a mission trip in Nigeria and that he need to send him money right away to hold the rental.

Although it never became a Hurricane, Tropical Storm Fay broke a record by making landfall four times in Florida. While some counties are considered disaster areas here in Florida and still cleaning after Fay, a much bigger fish - anticipated storm, Hurricane Gustav is being closely watched by the National Hurricane Center in Miami that could possibly reach category 3 and reach the Gulf of Mexico by the end of this week.
