General Information Rhinebeck, New York, is a beautiful town located in Northern Dutchess County, New York, in the Hudson River Valley. The whole town of Rhinebeck is like stepping into a museum, with 437 historic locations listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In fact, the village of Rhinebeck itself has been on the National Register since 1979. The town of Rhinebeck was founded in 1686 by four Dutch settlers who acquired the land from Indians and named it Kipsbergen. Poets' Walk is a wonderful landscape park in Red Hook, NY. It is operated and maintained by Scenic Hudson. I previously wrote a post about Poet's Walk. Today it came to my attention that there is a special event this weekend (Saturday 20th from 4:30PM-7PM) at Poet's Walk that some of you might enjoy. It is called "Sunset Reading at Poets' Walk Park". You can get all the details by clicking on the link. There is a wonderful event in Rhinebeck every year - this will be the 162nd year the Dutchess County Fair has come to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. It is a long standing tradition of local families as well as visitors who come for all over the the greater New York area to attend the fair. There is wonderful food (as in all the delicious but fattening things you should not eat) such as giant dishes of french fries, fried dough, steak and cheese sandwiches, things made of waffles, cotton candy, the list goes on and on!
