Montgomery County Council Passes Growth Policy Recordation Tax Increase Goes Into Effect March 1, 2008 At its final voting session on the growth policy for 2007-2009, the Montgomery County Council voted to increase impact taxes, impose new school and transportation adequacy tests, and increase the recordation tax. New revenue from the recordation tax increase will go towards rental assistance programs and County Government capital projects like roads, police, and fire stations. The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) is sponsoring a free paint giveaway on a trial basis. The Household Hazardous Waste receives gallons of usable paint. Anyone who takes more than 3 gallons will receive a free 5 gallon bucket. Paint is offered first-come, first-served and colors are not guaranteed. Paint is available daily from 9am to 5pm at the Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 16101 Frederick Road in Derwood, MD.
