I am thankful for my 1,965 followers on ActiveRain and am especially thankful for those who regularly comment on my blog posts. I have been a member for a long time and it is sad to realize that many of my followers are no longer active members. When members follow me, I generally reciprocate by following them.

One word to make a difference for ActiveRain
All of us know that ActiveRain has a serious membership retention problem. A high percentage of the members are no longer active. The inactive members still appear in public and member searches and still show on the ActiveRain Leaderboard. I suggest that a single word could make a difference in the dynamics and the appearances.
Add the work 'Inactive' as the first word of the status of each member who has not posted a blog for six months or longer. This would clarify the status for public searches and for the members of ActiveRain. Those … (46 comments)

As many of you have experienced (some of you even though you probably haven't noticed) there is an issue with the ActiveRain scoring algorithm that is causing some members to lose points from time to time (or in some drastic cases almost every day). This week marked a new ActiveRain Milestone that I reached after years of your help and your constant support. I now have over 2 million points and am ranked at number five in the points totals.

Pay it forward with ‘likes’ on comments
ActiveRain bloggers now receive extra points when other members ‘like’ their comments. If you want to feel good about your own actions and provide some support for other members, pay it forwarding by ‘liking’ comments each time you leave a comment on a blog. It should be obvious that we should ‘like’ the comments on our own blogs.

As the ActiveRain system has been updated, some of us have experienced difficulty in understanding the new points calculations and the regular loss of points. Bob Stewart has assured us that the loss of points issues will be resolved and any lost points will be properly restored.

Thank you for the 53,400 + comments on my blogs
I’ve been a member of ActiveRain since 2008. I remember the hundreds of blogs that I posted that did not receive a single comment. Over time, I did begin to receive comments on a regular basis.
If you want to know what eventually increased the number of comments I receive, I will share the secret. When I started posting photographs of flowers and other images from my photowalks and travels, the number of comments increased.

ActiveRain bloggers continue to experience disappearing points. It happened to me again today. I expect that some members feel that they do not want to continue to cope with the dysfunctional points system. However, we have been assured that Bob Stewart is on top of this issue and will provide resolutions that will satisfy the membership.

If you do not wish to receive email notifications when you are tagged on ActiveRain, go to the home page of your blog. Under your photograph, you will see the list of options. Click on ’My Blog’ and then click on ‘Blog Settings’. Scroll down and uncheck the box that requests email notifications when you are tagged.

Dolores and I were delighted to hear that Rob and Aimee Thomas would be traveling from from Bristol, Virginia to meet us in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Rob is the top agent in his market and his very busy schedule allowed only a short visit. They had a 300 mile, six hour trip to get here. Thankfully, most of the drive was on Interstate highways through the beautiful countryside of Virginia and Maryland.

Dolores and I had dinner with this young couple Friday night. They made a 300 mile, 6 hour trip for this ActiveRain MeetUp at Romano's Macaroni Grill in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
It is always fun to meet an ActiveRain blogger in person after sharing years of communications in blogs and comments.

Members of ActiveRain that have been blogging for a few years will usually have very nice things to say about this supportive community of bloggers. As of this morning, I had received 50,552 comments on my blogs. I have no idea how that compares with the number of comments that have been received by others but the number is impressive since many of my blogs fail to attract many comments.
