Hosta plants are popular in Kentlands, our home neighborhood within the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland. We have several hosta plants in our garden. They require little attention and can be thinned when you wish to have plants for gifts or to grow in other area. The flowers are small and you need to look closely to for a view like this photograph.

Walking through the neighborhood is good exercise. Add a camera and you have photowalking. It is easy to set aside the problems of the moment as you focus your attention and your camera on a beautiful flower.
I use a small camera, a Canon PowerShot G11 and use the free photo editing site iPiccy.com.

Hosta in our home garden
It is getting near the end of the season for hosta plants in our home neighborhood. When you are selecting hosta plants for your home garden, consider the colors of the leaves and the colors of the blooms. You may need to look closely to see the differences in the flowers.

Photographing Hosta: Summer Photowalking
You will really see what is going on in your community if you just get out and walk around. The added benefit is that you will get some needed exercise. Add a camera and you will be photowalking.
It is fun to photograph hosta and you need to look very closely to appreciate the small flowers which differ with the varieties. The first photograph shows the natural colors. The second image is color edited just for fun.
Enjoy the small gifts of nature with your camera in hand.

This is the season for Hosta in Kentlands
I was out for an early morning two hour photowalk through Kentlands, our home community in Gaithersburg. Hosta plants are blooming on almost every block. This is a popular plant in Maryland. When you are out and about, take a close look at the Hosta blooms and you will see that there are many varieties.
