I finally finished shoveling snow today. The winter storm lingered over our area longer than expected and it resulted in much additional snow. Schools and many offices are closed today.
I posted this photograph in some Facebook groups today and decided to post it in a blog.

The weather was beautiful on Saturday and Chef Dolores and I decided to visit the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland to sample some of their new beers. They recently released three new beers as part their East Coast Hop Project and several beers are on their Limited Release list.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, Dolores and I lived at the Virginia House on the oceanfront at Virginia Beach for many years. We moved there for the quality of life but also found business opportunities.

Dolores and I spent a day at Longwood Gardens to enjoy and photograph the spring flowers.   Longwood Gardens is located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, just west of Wilmington, Delaware.  With over 1,100 acres of gardens and a very large Conservatory, this is a world class travel destination.  We are members and try to attend all of the major annual exhibits.
We took several hundred photographs.  In is always good to have your camera in hand to capture the colors of the season.

Dolores and I are considering a move to a retirement community. On Friday, we attended a very nice luncheon at Asbury Methodist Village, one of the long established retirement communities in our area. 
We enjoyed the lunch and the marketing presentation and then accepted their invitation to join residents for the afternoon movie in their beautiful theater. The feature film was Sully and it was outstanding.

Maryland residents are experiencing unusually cold weather and need to be prepared for adverse conditions for Friday night and Saturday morning. Home is a good place to be during this period. Weekend travel may be impacted. 
 
Winter weather advisories have been issued for the Baltimore and Washington metro areas from midnight until 9 a.m. Saturday morning. The advisory warns of slippery roads and walkways, making travel difficult.

Local Collections Sought for Gaithersburg Museum Exhibit
 
Starting in November, the newly renovated Budd railroad car at the Gaithersburg Community Museum will host rotating exhibits of local collections. Residents, clubs and local organizations are invited to submit an application for consideration.
 
Collections could include local family archives, cultural objects, postcards, toys, dolls, Gaithersburg memorabilia, kitchenware, a community organization's history illustrated with relevant objects, and anything else that might be of interest to the community. The Community Case Exhibits, selected by a panel of jurors, will be rotated approximately every six weeks. Click here for application details.
