energy: Government Tax Credit for Energy Upgrades til 12/31/2016 - 01/03/11 12:16 PM
Low cost upgrades on your home to become more energy efficient will be a tax credit of 30% of the cost up to $1,500. 
Eg.--biomass stoves, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, insulation, roofs (metal & asphalt), water heaters (non solar), windows and doors. 
A tax credit of 30% with no upper limit is for:
 geothermal heat pmps, small wind turbines, and solar energy systems.
This tax credit is good until December 31, 2016!!  It applies to new and existing homes, principal residences and second homes.

This is the time of year that many homeowners think of projects for their home.  Some of the projects will enhance the appearance of their home and some will do much more about saving on your energy bills.  In today's economy reducing your energy bills should be high on your list of "to do's".
Here's some ideas to achieve lowering your monthly bills:
--bamboo flooring
--spray cellulose to insulate the walls
--recycled paper countertops
--bamboo cabinets in the kitchen and baths
--solar tubes in the kitchen that reflects light from the sun and moon
--low-flow plumbing
