real estate for sale in san mateo: 2013 Loan Limits left unchanged for Fannie and Freddie - 12/04/12 04:08 AM
For high-cost real estate areas, like California, maximum loan limits for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans will remain unchanged for the upcoming year. This means, instead of the "normal" loan limit of $417,000 for most areas, in the high-cost areas loan limits can reach $625,500. These loan limits are recalculated every year established under the Housing and Econmic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA). With home prices on an upward trend in the San Diego area, in higher limits means loans can be secured for higher priced homes without jumping into a Jumbo Loan. Just because it's December doesn't mean you … (0 comments)

September 13, 2012—written by San Francisco Real Estate Professionals  The California Association of Realtors recently commended two California senators for their support of a bill that would make it easier for homeowners to refinance.

real estate for sale in san mateo: Should you pay down your mortgage faster? - 09/07/12 04:41 AM

September 7, 2012—written by San Francisco Real Estate Professionals
15 years is a long time. 30 years? Even longer. Not wanting to have a debt hanging over your head for that long of a time is completely understandable. Hence, many people tend to increase their payments towards their mortgage principle in hopes of ridding themselves of that debt faster. Sounds legit, right?
According to an article by Johathan Fahey of the Associated Press, paying down a mortgage faster may not be the best use of your extra funds. The desire to pay down the mortgage is more of … (0 comments)

Dataquick reports, “It's a housing market with far fewer foreclosure resales and a more even distribution of sales across all price segments. A lack of homes for sale contributed to the price increases, as frantic house hunters … (1 comments)

real estate for sale in san mateo: Smartphone apps that steal your battery and info - 07/03/12 02:26 AM
July 3, 2012
I don’t know about you, but I’m always plugging in my smart phone. Just when I’m wanting to make an important call – and the dreaded red bar shows up. And for-get-it if I have forgotten to plug my smart phone in at night. If my phone was as smart as they say it was, it would figure its own way to plug in.
But it’s not. So, other than having it plugged in all the time (not recommended), how can you save your battery life of your smart phone?
Delete the free apps.

real estate for sale in san mateo: Just how important ARE those ol’ credit scores?? - 05/24/12 09:08 AM
Your ability to secure financing when you’re looking to buy your home, weighs heavily on your credit score. Before the real estate “bubble burst” in 2006 money was handed out quite liberally, even to the lowest of low credit scores. I personally had seen a buyer with a credit score less than 500 FICO score buy a house! However, the normal score to secure a loan then was 620 or higher.
Credit scores tell a lot about your purchasing habits whether you want to them to or not.
Now after six years of extreme tightening,  lenders have tightened their mortgage requirements … (1 comments)

real estate for sale in san mateo: What does Facebook have to do with Bay Area Properties? - 05/17/12 09:08 AM
As I'm blogging this, Facebook is just hours from going public and all I know, I'm not going to be one of those stock buyers frothing at the mouth anxious to grab up the coveted stocks. No, instead I'm wondering what the public offering of Facebook is going to do to the Bay Area neighborhood property prices. I think those property values may be as hot as Facebook stock and there could be just as much competition to buy.According to Movoto.com, “Competition to buy listed homes in desirable Bay Area zip codes is already discouraging for the average home buyer.” said Mark … (0 comments)
