FINALLY, the local media is starting to get it!  Unlike the majority of the country, the Greater Baton Rouge real estate market is not depressed.  It has been an uphill battle to try to get the word out to the public that things are not bad here; in fact they are pretty GOOD!

The latest issue of "Money Magazine" ranked Baton Rouge ninth on the list of hottest real estate markets in the nation.  According to the article, home prices in Baton Rouge are expected to climb 1.9% over the next 12 months.  The good news is not limited to only Baton Rouge; New Orleans is ranked number seven on the list with an estimated growth rate of 2.2% through May of 2009.

positive news: There Must Be Something in the Water....Baton Rouge's tap water ranked 2nd best in the nation - 02/04/08 04:24 AM
According to a recent article in Men's Health magazine, Baton Rouge's tap water was ranked #2 in the nation.  The ranking was based on the most recent data on levels of arsenic, lead, halo-acetic acids and total trihalomethanes (linked to cancer), and total coliform bacteria, plus the number of EPA water-system violations from 1995 to 2005.  The only city to beat out Baton Rouge was Denver, Co.
 The top 5 cities are:

3.  Kansas City, MO       A
2.  Baton Rouge, LA       A
1.  Denver, CO       A
 
The bottom 5 cities are:

positive news: The Red Stick Farmer's Market...Something for Everyone! - 11/18/07 04:35 AM
My family has a weekend ritual that is unwavering to say the least!  Every Saturday morning like clockwork(early morning clockwork!) my daughter Lily(the cute one in the picture to the left) rouses the rest of the household and pesters all involved until we dutifully take her to the Red Stick Farmers Market.  Once there, we typically scattered with our alloted money and enjoy an hour or so of browsing and buying some of the freshest and unique produce and products directly from local farmers.
This past Saturday's selection included turnips,radishes,fresh lettuce(arugula and kale to name a few).sweet potatoes,tomatoes,shallots,mustard and collard greens and much much … (2 comments)

                                                                    Southern Business & Development, which annualy "scores" southern states and cites in different categories, has awarded Louisiana the coveted "state of the year" title for the year 2007! 
SB&D declared Baton Rouge as the region's top mid-sized market. The magazine says the Capital Region got the nod because of the many exciting and diverse business opportunities that are opening in the area. Some of the companies they cited were Celtic Media and Formosa Plastics projects, along with the bio-diesel and ethanol projects in Port Allen.
