Sunday, November 15, is the last day of the Lakewood Home Festival. Homes will be open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Featured homes are located on the west side of White Rock Lake, between West Lawther Drive and Abrams Road. Street parking is available near each of the homes on the tour.

The White Rock Home Tour features five contemporary homes this year. My personal favorite is the house overlooking White Rock Lake Park. Enormous white slab concrete steps separated by drought tolerant Sedum plants lead visitors to the 1,000 square foot deck and pool designed to take full advantage of the view. Modern-Shed created the modules for this pre-fabricated energy efficient house. The White Rock Home Tour benefits Hexter Elementry School. Today is the last day of the tour. The Lakewood Home Festival, one of my favorite home tours, is this weekend November 8-10. The Lakewood Home Tour offers the opportunity to see six architectural gems in the Lakewood Neighborhood of East Dallas. Homes will be open for viewing on Saturday and Sunday. Lovers of Mid-Century Modern Architecture look forward to the annual Preservation Dallas Architectural Tour. Six architectural gems will be showcased on the 2013 Tour. The Tour will begin at the Kalita Humphreys Theater on Turtle Creek Boulevard. Preservation Dallas has put together a panel to discuss Mid-Century Modern Architecture in Dallas. Mark Lamster, Architecture Critic; Larry Speck, Architect; and Kate Holliday, Architecture Historian will share their knowledge with guests.
