Save The Whales Day May 23, 2010 Thanks to Christine Hynes from Laguna Beach for sharing this valuable date with us. On May 23, 2010 the WAN Conservancy will be holding demonstrations up and down the California Coast to oppose a proposition made to allow commercial whale hunting to resume. Over 25 years ago a moratorium to prevent commercial whale hunting was enacted. With this moratorium, many of the whale species that were threatened to become extinct have had the opportunity to make a slow recovery. There is now a proposal on the table to lift the moratorium.
